What???

OK, so Molly woke up crying at 3:30 because of the storm. So I'm sitting there rocking her and the TORNADO SIRENS start going off. Um . . . really??? So I take her down to Mike, and we turn on the tv to see the weather. The electricity goes off. I run upstairs and wake Matthew up and stuff us all in the guest bathroom in case of the tornado. No tornado, but there was a huge thunder and lightening storm. It was kind of neat, actually--we all sat there and watched it huddled in the little bathroom. I told Matthew stories of my mom waking me up and putting me in the bathtub in the middle of the night with pillows all around me--ahhhh, life in "tornado alley." I also spent my 16th birthday huddled in Sara's closet. (Moral of the story: keep batteries for the radio). There are lots of homes without electricity today, including Matthew's school. Including Matthew's school. Not that I treasure my time when he's at school, but I do--is that bad? So, I decided to have a fun day and we're going shopping for birthday plates, napkins, etc. and looking at birthday cakes. Matthew is so excited!

Wasn't that crazy?! I second guessed myself about going to a 'safe room'...but we did! So glad it passed fast!

I hope y'all had a great day shopping for birthday stuff!!!

why am I not surprised that you have written the same script as yo' Mama! did during tornado season! I call it "bathroom season!" Love that you turned the day into an adventure for birthday treats!
