A Day in My Life (and 4/52)

It was very, very early this morning when I was awakened by "Mom! Mommy! I need to tell you something! Come here!" That was at 6:11 am. By 6:17 am, this was the scene in our bed:

Molly has quite the fashion sense. She put together this little ensemble all by herself. Quite talented!
We watched cartoons for a few minutes, played a bit with Mike before he headed out the door, and then met my dad at Denny's for a special breakfast treat.
After Denny's we headed through the Lightening Car Wash (a family favorite)! The kids love it because they get to stay in the car while it goes through the wash.

Then off to Sports Clips (Matthew's new favorite hair cut place) for Matthew's hair cut. Here's the before picture:
And here's After (Mom, I want it spikey!)

We headed to Blockbuster, where Matthew rented Fire House Dog, and Molly picked a My Little Pony movie. Matthew watched his movie while Molly napped. This was about 11:30 this morning--and we'd already had a full day!
Or So I Thought! After napping/movie time, we met Matthew's friend, Preston, at the pool for a couple of hours of summer fun! Matthew got a new snorkle last week and has gotten way more than $5 worth of fun out of it already!

And look at sweet Molly! She's loving the goggles. Work it, baby!
Preston may be Matthew's friend, but Molly adores him, as you can see!
After our fun time at the pool, we went home, changed clothes, and headed for Matthew's T-Ball game. The kids are getting really good! I can't believe how much they have improved! Check out the look of determination on his face!

Another great thing about tonight's T-Ball game was that Uncle David and (soon-to-be) Aunt Jessica got to come! Matthew loved it!!!! And so did Miss Molly!

We ended up this super-busy day with Mexican food. This was the latest Molly had ever been out. It took both of the kids about 3 minutes to fall asleep tonight.
What a busy, wonderful day. I think this is what summer is all about--those great times with friends and family doing things you don't normally get to do. I can't believe we squeezed all this fun into one day. Maybe we'll get to sleep past 6:11 tomorrow!

I'm turning Japanese, oh yes, I'm turning Japanese

I really think so.

Why the 80's song? Well, as I mentioned earlier, we've been dancing around the house a lot. The radio is a bit inconsistant as far as dance tempo, so I got out my old cd's and Matthew's current fave is the soundtrack from "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" which I saw with my BFF in the actual theater. So funny. So the song "I'm turning Japanese" is on the soundtrack and he loves it! Hilarious.

We went with Matthew's friend, Preston, to Tae Kwon Doe on Thursday night for Pizza Buddy Night. He loved it. The coach was awesome and Matthew totally got into it.

Molly is still a little sickie. Her temp has been high--like 103--and she feels like poo. I just can't stand it. I love that she loves to be held when she's sick, I just hate the actual sickness. I took her back the doctor yesterday and he said it was the infamous virus that is going around (Damn you, germ ridden play area at the mall). He always says "give it a week to 10 days and if she gets worse bring her back. It started on Monday night, so I'm hoping she's going to be starting to get better soon. She actually is somewhat better, but still not herself by any means. I just love this picture.

Happy weekend, everyone! Only 5 more days until my scrapbook retreat! Woo Hoo!

Picture Tag

I saw this on my friend Hollie's blog, and I, too, was very curious to see what I would find.....

The object of the picture tag is to:

1) Choose the 4th folder where you store your pictures on your computer

2) Select the 4th picture in the folder

3) Explain the picture

4) Tag 4 people to do the same

NO CHEATING! (cropping, editing, etc!)

Here's what I found!

Oh, so sweet! This was taken on April 30th. Matthew was in school and my dad and I took Molly to Tin Star for lunch. Only, when we got there, she was asleep and my dad just couldn't take it. He sat there and held her the whole time. He just loves her. In fact, I'm pretty sure this picture is the screen saver on his computer. Its just so sweet.
Tag: I know you're supposed to tag 4 people, but I'm just going to say--if you want to do it, do it! And tell me you did!!!

Happy Birthday, Dad

Today is my dad's birthday and we celebrated in our usual manner with Mexican food and Sour Cherry Pie (which I made, might I add, and it was mighty tasty). Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Today was not the best day I've had as a mom. I think everyone is ready to get back to normal with school, routine, etc. I'm hoping that tomorrow is a better day and that I can quit going back over the day in my head and disecting it--should I have done this instead of that? did I let Matthew watch too much tv? should I have been more strict? should I have been less strict? should I sell matthew to the circus? should I run away and join the circus? will Kroger ever let us back in their store? Well, I probably should have done some things differently and I think I'll keep Matthew for one more day, at least. The circus probably wouldn't take me, anyway. As for Kroger, I guess we'll see tomorrow. The funny thing is that the two strange children that were riding in my grocery cart acting like wild monkeys (I think one of them may have been upside down at one point) will probably be sweet little angels the next time we go to the store. If not, I may revisit my circus options.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is my Dad's birthday and we are going to celebrate it the way we typically do: Mexican food and our world famous sour cherry pie. My dad has always loved this pie and we have it every year on his birthday. What kind of daughter would I be if I hadn't just whipped one up while Molly was napping and Matthew's watching Scooby Doo for the thousandth time?? Well, we'll never know, because I did just whip one up and it's sitting in my fridge waiting for the deliciousness to be gobbled up tonight.

Anyway--Happy Birthday, Daddy! I love you!
